The Layer Settings Panel provides additional settings and tools for precise adjustments of a selected layer. This article outlines all the available layer settings within the Layer Settings Panel.
Note: You can select multiple layers and adjust their settings simultaneously.
Transform Settings
Select a layer to use the following transform settings:
Fit to composition : Automatically auto-scales the layer to match the composition.
Position (x, y): This setting controls the spatial location of the layer within the composition. You can adjust the position along the X-axis and Y-axis, either here or by dragging the layer on the design board.
Scale (x, y): Adjusts the size of the layer relative to its original dimensions.
Anchor (x, y): Defines the point around which transformations occur, such as scaling and rotation.
Rotation (degrees): Determines the angle of rotation applied to the layer around its anchor point.
Note: If you switch the layer 3D flag, Transform will include additional axes to support 3D transformations.
Alignment Settings
Select a layer to use the following alignment settings:
Select the alignment position: Left, Center, Right, Top, Middle, or Bottom.
Choose how to align layers by clicking the downward arrow next to Align to and selecting from these options:
Composition: Aligns the layers in relation to the composition or ad size dimensions.
Selection: Available only when 2 or more layers are selected, it aligns them in relation to one another.
Anchor Point: Aligns the anchor point to the layer. Note that this option does not change the alignment of the layer.
Text Layer Settings
Select a text layer to use the following text settings:
Text Box: This controls the shift and size of a text layer's bounding box in relation to the layer transform position.
Source Text: Allows you to adjust the copy within a text layer.
Font Family: Displays all uploaded fonts in Ad Builder. Click the dropdown to switch between them.
Text Size: You can adjust the size of the text in multiple ways:
By changing the text size number.
By clicking the text size number and dragging your cursor left (to decrease) or right (to increase).
By using the mouse scroller.
All Caps: Converts all letters in the text layer to uppercase.
Wrap Text: Wraps the text or fits it to the box.
Horizontal Align (Justification): Aligns the text to the left, center, or right.
Vertical Alignment: Aligns the text to the top, middle, or bottom of the text box.
Letter Spacing: Adds spaces between each letter.
Line Height: This adjusts the line spacing.
Shift X: Moves the text left or right.
Shift Y: Moves the text up or down.
Strikethrough: Applies a strikethrough to the selected text, with specified width.
Underline: Applies a line under the selected text, with a specific width.
Min Font Size: This allows you to specify the smallest allowed size for the text. It is applied when the text source is dynamic, and due to the automatic text sizing feature, it defines how much text will be accommodated before it is clipped by ellipses.
If you want the text with a fixed size, define the minimum font size to be the same as the smallest font size in your paragraph.
It ensures that text remains legible and readable, even at its smallest display size.
By specifying a minimum font size, you can maintain readability and user experience across different platforms and devices.
Fill & Stroke: Allows you to adjust the fill color and stroke of the text layer:
Fill: Opens the color palette, where you can adjust the text’s fill color. You can either select a color manually, enter a hex code, or use the eyedropper tool () to pick a color from any pixel on your screen.
Note: When using Firefox or Safari, the eyedropper can only sample colors from the currently active browser tab.
Stroke: If the stroke width is set to any value other than 0, an additional color box will appear. Click it to open the color palette, where you can adjust the stroke color independently from the fill color.
Note: Some styling options can be applied per character, affecting selected text, while others apply only to entire lines or paragraphs.
Shape Layer Settings
Select a shape to adjust the following settings:
Transform: Additional property transform settings for multiple shapes within a single shape layer.
Fill & Stroke: Lets you adjust the fill color and stroke of a shape layer.
Stroke: If the stroke width is set to any value other than 0, an additional color box will appear, enabling you to adjust the stroke color independently from the fill color.
Fill: You can add a Solid Color, Linear Gradient or Radial Gradient when the color palette is opened.
Path: This includes the path properties of the shape, which define the outline or boundary of a shape. Each is unique to its specific shape type.
Image Layer Settings
Select an image to use the following settings:
This allows controls for the width and height of an image layer, as well as the resize behavior as images are interchanged.
Width (px) and Height (px)
Image Resize Option:
Fit: Ensures an image will be contained within the layer's bounding box.
Tip: Use the Fit resize setting for logos, product images, and any placeholder image layers that shouldn't be cropped or stretched.
Crop: Expands an image to fill the layer's bounding box, and any excess is cropped.
Tip: Use the Crop resize setting for background images that use the full dimensions of the ad so that the image fills the space as intended.
Stretch: Stretches an image to fill the layer's bounding box.
Tip: Use the Stretch resize setting when you want the image to be the exact size of the placeholder dimensions or if it doesn't matter if the image is stretched (such as a gradient). You can also use this setting for GIF image layers to ensure they animate as intended.
Note: The Stretch setting may distort the image.
Image Alignment Settings: These six alignment settings help you precisely align the image vertically (using the Top Alignment, Vertical Center, or Bottom Alignment option) and/or horizontally (using the Left Alignment, Vertical Center, or Right Alignment option).
Image Source: This is used to adjust an image layer's image source. Options are:
Replace the image from the Asset Panel.
Edit the image.
Replace the image with an uploaded image.
Video Layer Settings
Select a video to use the following settings:
This allows controls for the width and height of a video layer's bounding box, as well as a loop & volume/muted toggle.
Shift: Lets you use X and Y coordinates to adjust the video's position in both the horizontal and vertical directions.
Size: Lets you set the video's specific width and height in pixels.
Loop: Lets you specify if the video should repeat and the number of iterations.
Muted: Enables or disables the video’s audio.
Offset: Lets you offset the video’s start point in seconds.
Volume: Lets you control the loudness of the video track by adjusting the percentage.
Video Alignment Settings: Utilize six precision settings to position your video. Horizontal options include Left, Center, and Right, while vertical options include Top, Center, and Bottom.
Video Source: This allows you to replace the video, preview it, inspect its properties, download it, copy its URL, and edit it.
