General
Like programmatic campaigns, social campaign condition cards let you condition by one or more attributes. The categories available for social campaigns are weather, ad set, product, and sports. In social campaigns, since we do not serve the creatives, the condition card still decides which output(s) to use, but based on the set condition, this either creates ads or toggles them on or off on the social platform. In the condition card, you can set the following condition types:
- Simple: Uses one input value, comparing it with multiple values to select an output.
- Advanced: Uses multiple input values, linking them using and/or operators to ultimately select an output.
Condition Categories
- Weather: This category lets you condition based on current and forecasted weather data. Within this category, you can see all possible weather conditions you can use as weather triggers in the campaign.
- Ad Set/Group: This category lets you condition for attributes of ad sets or ad groups synced with your campaign, such as their names, selected demographics (age and gender), and any custom parameters.
- Product: This category lets you condition for product attributes coming from a product feed.
- Content: This category lets you condition for creative content attributes coming from a content feed.
- Sport: This category lets you condition for sports events or sports team data coming from a sports-related product feed (baseball, soccer, basketball, American football, and hockey product types).
Social versus Programmatic
Differences exist between how condition cards function in Flight Control social campaigns versus programmatic campaigns. In social campaigns, condition cards influence how many ad variations are created within Facebook ad sets and impact those ads’ statuses by toggling ads (on/off) to simulate DCO decisioning. As a result, social campaign condition cards offer fewer attributes for conditioning.
Example: If a weather condition based on an ad set location is met, the corresponding ad is toggled on to simulate DCO decisioning.
Adding a Condition Card
Condition cards can be selected and added to a campaign map through:
- the Add Cards icon. (This adds an unconnected card to the campaign map.)
- a decision card's output. (This links the new card to that card's output.)
Setting up the Condition Card
When the Condition card is added to the campaign map, it opens the Settings drawer just as it does for programmatic campaigns. Since Flight Control does not serve the ads, the signals can only come from very specific places, such as ad set properties (gender/age range/audiences), Weather at the ad set location, or properties of products that have been added before adding the condition card (product selection card upstream).
Note: If you set up the condition in a way that there will be an overlap and multiple output conditions met, Clinch will activate the ads for both outputs, and Meta will perform its own optimization regarding which ads to serve.
The remaining setup process closely resembles that of the programmatic condition card. For more details, please follow this link.
