General
The Taxonomy section within Account Settings lets admins set custom names to be used as defaults for your data, saving you time when creating/mapping values to them. These custom values are utilized consistently in Flight Control for feed mapping, template and creative dynamic parameters, campaign set-ups, tearsheets, and/or reporting.
Multiple taxonomy types exist, and you can customize them to help:
- establish UI names for key Flight Control elements in your account.
- improve campaign set-up efficiency and reduce mapping errors.
- enhance the accuracy of Flight Control's Auto-Mapping feature.
User Permissions

Understanding Taxonomy Fields
A taxonomy field can consist of the following columns:
- Technical Name: The default name used for a field in Flight Control. For the Content Taxonomy, this column also displays icons indicating the field's category/dynamic parameter type.
- UI Name: The name you want to be displayed throughout the Flight Control UI for a specific attribute.
-
Category: The category used for grouping taxonomy names (Legal, CTA, Video, etc.). You can alter the category list using the Edit Category List action.
- Note: This field only applies to the Content Taxonomy.
- Description: This provides a quick explanation of this specific attribute. This description is visible throughout Flight Control and aids users in comprehending the attribute. Therefore, it is valuable to invest time in providing a detailed description, especially when dealing with custom attributes.
Creating a New Taxonomy Field
Once you are in the taxonomy setup tab:
- Select Add Fields.
- Select one or more attributes to add.
- Select Add Items.
- Locate your added attributes within the list.
- Update the added items' UI names, categories, and/or descriptions as desired.
- Click Submit to save your changes.
