General
Ad Builder facilitates the creation of ads directly within Flight Control. You can build ad designs from the ground up for any template type (HTML, Image, Video, Interactive Video, and In-Banner Video) or revise pre-existing templates. These templates may have been created in Flight Control using Ad Builder as the template source, or published from external sources like Figma, Photoshop, or After Effects (Managed Service).
Ad Builder is one of the steps of the Creative Template Editor: Build, Map, and Set.
- The Build step is the Ad Builder.
- The Map step allows you to assign dynamic parameters to layers.
- The Set step allows you to set default values to these dynamic parameters.
Prerequisites
- Make a creative template with an Ad Builder source.
Accessing Ad Builder
- In the Creative Template Library, hover over a creative template and click Edit.
- In the template's Header, click Build.
Navigating Ad Builder
The Ad Builder interface includes the following components. Click the hyperlink to learn more about them:
-
Design Board:
- This is the workspace where you create and preview composition layers, serving as the area where you view and interact with the visual elements and animations within a composition.
-
Assets Panel:
- Contains the different assets that can be used to build the layout of a template (Image, Text, Shape, or Video).
This area serves as the hub for importing and organizing assets, and it provides access to tools for introducing new layers to the ad composition.

Layers Panel:
- The layers panel is a central area for managing layers. Here you can select layers and adjust their properties. For example: You can access a layer’s transform properties to add keyframes to the timeline for animation purposes.
- Additionally, you can create compositions that can be used as “pre-comps” to group related layers together and instantiate them multiple times. This helps maintain a tidy and structured timeline, especially for complex projects, easily make changes to multiple layers simultaneously, and more.
-
Timeline:
- The timeline is a visual representation of the duration of the template. It allows you to control the duration of each layer and adjust the position of any keyframes.
The timeline also includes a time scrubber that allows you to view any specific point within the timeline.

Layers Settings Panel:
- The layers settings panel displays additional information about a selected layer and allows for precise adjustments to layer properties.
Important:
- Many of the parameter editing functionalities are available in various locations: From the layer's Settings panel, directly on the design board, or within the layer panel sub-properties. These are interconnected, ensuring consistency across the editing process.
- You can select layers either directly from the board or from the layers panel.
- It's important to remember that none of the updates made are saved until you click either "save" or "discard."
