General
The Create Custom Matching product selection card strategy selects products according to custom conditions where product item properties are compared with values from various sources (location item properties, DSP parameters, user parameters, placement parameters, etc.).
Prerequisite
- Create a product feed in your account.
Configuring a Create Custom Matching Strategy
To create a custom matching strategy:
- Select Create custom matching as a strategy.
- Choose a product feed.
- Optional. Select a product set.
- Set a condition for how products will be selected.
- Choose a product feed column that contains the data you want to compare.
- Select an operator:
-
Equals - The value in the selected product feed column must exactly match the signal value.
- Example: If the product feed column contains "7" and the source signal is "7", then selecting Equals will produce a match.
-
List Includes - The value in the selected product feed column contains a comma-separated list of values, and the signal value exactly matches one of the list’s values.
- Example: If the product feed column contains "7,8,9,10" and the source signal is "7", then selecting List Includes will produce a match.
-
Included in List - The value in the selected product feed column must be included in the signal's comma-separated list of values.
- Example: If the product feed column contains "7" and the source signal is "7,8,9,10", then selecting Included in List will produce a match.
- Select a Source signal value to match with data in your product feed column.
-
Equals - The value in the selected product feed column must exactly match the signal value.
- Optional. Click the plus sign (+) to add and configure more conditions, connected using AND logic.
- Choose a method by which to order products:
- Randomly - When multiple matches exist, the card will randomly select the required number of products from the matched list.
- Highest to Lowest (requires score/price feed mapping) - When multiple matches exist, the card will sort list values (scores or prices) from highest to lowest and select products with the highest values in descending order.
- Lowest to Highest (requires score/price feed mapping) - When multiple matches exist, the card will sort list values (scores or prices) from lowest to highest and select products with the lowest values in ascending order.
- Click Submit to save the strategy.
The "Partial Success" Output
When using a custom-matching strategy, the product selection card displays a new output called "Partial Success." This third output is used when the matching condition can only select a partial number of products required for the creative.
Example: If the creative requires three products, but only two products meet the set condition(s), the products selected will go through the "Partial Success" card output.
