This article aims to give you a basic understanding of how to create a template design in Ad Builder.
Step 1: Create a Template using Ad Builder as the source
- Navigate to Libraries and select Creative Template to open the Template Library.
- Click Create and select Ad Builder as the source. Refer to “Making a Creative Template” for additional information.
- When you click “Create,” you will be taken to Ad Builder where you will design the template.
Step 2: Create Ad Formats
- In Ad Builder, click “Create Ad Format,” select the ad size(s), duration, frame rate, and name the composition. Refer to “Ad Builder Design Board” for more information.
Step 3: Upload Assets (images, videos, fonts)
- The asset panel is located on the left side of the composition. This is where you would upload and store the assets that will be used to build the placeholder layers within the template. You can upload fonts, images, and/or video files. Refer to “Ad Builder Assets Panel” for more information.
Step 4: Create composition layers, specify composition settings, and preview
After you prepare and import the assets, you can use them to create layers in a composition, animate and apply effects.

To create a layer:
- Drag and drop either an asset (shape, image, video, and/or text) onto the composition panel.
- The layer name and its settings display in the Layer Panel and Layer Settings Panel.

To define the layer's start and end time:
- Drag the layer bar left or right edges in the timeline panel.

To add effects and animators:
- Right click on the layer either in the design board or layer track and select between Effects and Add Animator. Refer to “Ad Builder Design Board” for more information.

To duplicate, delete, and rename a layer:
- Right click on the layer either in the design board or layer track and select between Rename, Duplicate, and Delete. Refer to “Ad Builder Design Board” for more information.

To adjust the layer's settings: Layer settings can be adjusted in either the Design Board, Layer track and/or Layer Settings panel.
- For example, a layer’s position can be adjusted using the Transform position property in the layer track or layer settings panel by adjusting its value(s), or in the design board by dragging the layer to the desired position.
Step 5: Save
- Ensure to Save before exiting Ad Builder. It is recommended to save periodically.
- The Save button will indicate unsaved changes with a "red dot" notification.
