General
The Image Editor provides standard and AI-enhanced editing capabilities for images used in creative templates and creatives, as well as those stored in your account's Assets Library.
It offers comprehensive image manipulation, combining manual controls for sizing and positioning with preset image sizing options. Additionally, it contains standard and AI-driven image editing tools.
Note: AI tools aren't available for images that include transparency.
User Permissions
- To create or edit templates or creatives, you must have the Creative Templates or Creatives user permission.
Prerequisite
- Enable Image Generation in the AI Features & Vendors tab of your account's settings.
Accessing the Image Editor
You can access the Image Editor when working on image assets in creative templates, creatives, and the Assets Library. See sections below for more information:
Creative Templates
There are two ways to access the Image Editor within a creative template:
-
Ad Builder (Build Step): To access the Image Editor within the Ad Builder, select an Image layer within the template's Build step, hover over the image asset within the Image Source section of the Layer Settings Panel, and click the pencil icon (
).
-
Setting Dynamic Parameter Values (Map & Set Steps): To edit an Image dynamic parameter for a specific creative template ad format, hover over the ad format's image in the template's Map or Set step and click the pencil icon (
).
Creatives
To edit the Image dynamic parameter value of a specific creative ad format, hover over the format's image when editing the creative and click the pencil icon ().
Assets Library
To edit an image asset in your account's Assets Library, hover over an image asset and click the edit icon.
Preset Image Sizing Options
Click the pencil icon () to reveal pixel width and height fields you can use to adjust the image's size. The following preset sizing options are also available:
- Fit Canvas and Image: Resizes the canvas to the recommended image dimensions and expands the image to fill the canvas, which results in excess portions of the image being cropped while retaining the aspect ratio.
- Fit Canvas and Contain Image: Resizes the canvas to the recommended image size and scales the image to fit within the recommended dimensions, preserving the aspect ratio without cropping. It also adds padding or space where needed to "contain" the image.
- Fit Canvas Only: Resizes the canvas (the background) to match the recommended image dimensions. The image is left unchanged (no scaling, cropping, or stretching).
Image Sizing Recommendations
In the Image Editor, a red-dotted box will be displayed indicating the recommended image dimensions. This suggested size accounts for factors such as ad-serving file size restrictions and compatibility with Retina displays for HTML ads.
To support high-density displays, you should size the image to match or exceed the recommended dimensions.
Standard Tools
The following standard image editing tools exist:

AI Tools
Upscaling (

).
- Select AI Image Expand (Outpainting).
- Select an AI model.
