General
Creative templates are dynamic ad shells that contain placeholders for interchangeable creative assets. They control the overall look, design, and functionality of your ad, and whether the ad will show products or locations/stores from feeds. Five template types exist: HTML, Image, Video, Interactive Video, and In-Banner Video.
Using the Creative Template Editor, you can build creative compositions and design creative template layers, add dynamic parameters and map them to layers, set dynamic parameter values, and more.

The Creative Template Lifecycle
The high-level creation process for a creative template is as follows:
- Make a creative template in Flight Control.
-
Build the creative template composition in Flight Control's Ad Builder.
- Note: You can incorporate Figma, Adobe After Effects, and Photoshop design compositions into your template. For more information, see Ad Builder Design Board.
- Map composition layers to dynamic parameters.
- Set default values for dynamic parameters.
- Use the creative template to produce child creatives for campaign use.
Reusing Creative Templates
Creative templates can be reused across campaigns in your account. When reusing a template, assets must adhere to the placeholder settings established in the template to ensure content will interchange as intended. We recommend creating new templates, rather than reusing, in these instances:
- Ad duration changes
- Layout changes (adding, removing, or changing position)
- Dynamic parameter changes (if dynamic parameters are added or removed)
- Animation changes
